If Michigan can’t have him, the Pistons can. #Science

I wouldn’t call what the Pistons do the highest level of basketball

I certainly hope he enters the mix.

My base assumption with guys like Bud and Monty whose next job is head coach and not an assistant is that they sit next year and try to regain a semblance of human life.

I certainly wouldn’t mind going from one former COTY to another.

Going into the lottery, here’s the UMHOOPS PISTONS DRAFT BOARD:

  1. Victor Wembanyama
  2. Scoot Henderson
  3. Brandon Miller
  4. Cam Whitmore
  5. Jarace Walker

Rooting for you guys in the lottery tonight! I’m jealous of anyone with a first round pick since my Wolves traded their next 25 to the Jazz for Rudy Gobert…

I’d take Miller over scoot, we have guards

Here’s a question: Are we sure Scoot is good? Was significantly worse this year than Jalen Green was in his G League year for example.

I’m in on Scoot for plenty of reasons but this clip alone is enough to make me think he’s gonna be fine

He was such a competitor when they played Wemby. And looked the part

Are we sure anyone is good? Brandon Miller shot 8/41 (3/19 3PT) in the NCAA tournament for example.

Scoot is a different player than Green so I don’t think the comparison really matters. Green is a better scorer. Scoot is a better passer/playmaker.

Adding a few more cuz they popped up when I searched for the first clip. The fact that all of these are from the same game, essentially attacking Wemby, is kinda crazy.

Yeah, but Scoot was a pretty horrible scorer in the G League. He needs to make some pretty marked improvement there.

I get the sense that there was a lot less defense played in these two exhibitions than there is usually in a G League game.

BPA always

FWIW Pelton’s statistical translations really hate what he did this year. He’s 60th in the stats-only model and 10th in the stats + Givony big board model. So…maybe? But he did have some injuries and Vecenie mentioned in his most recent mock draft pod that WOTS is Scott was just kind of bored and making sure he didn’t get hurt and all that. Which, realistically, given he had already locked up at worst a top 5 pick seems not unreasonable.

The highlights I watched of him the year previous I thought were just super impressive. Liked the athleticism and loved the poise operating in the ball screen. The most mature operator I can remember there. If you’re worried the athleticism works, I think it’s fair to start being concerned bc then maybe he just can’t get an advantage and make everything work as a primary creator? The shot isn’t…great, but 77% from the line really isn’t that bad even if it’s not good. Easy to imagine that being NBA league average by the time he’s 24 and needs to start carrying the team.

Scoot also broke his face this year IIRC
