Looking to me like the play-in is a good goal for this year, but still somewhat aspirational. I think they’ll be a much better team but there are still lots of good teams in the east and not many the Pistons are clearly better than or are ready to beat regularly starting next year. Making the playin would be impressive, making the playoffs would be a very encouraging sign. IMO they end up better than the Wiz, Pacers, Hornets and Magic. Expecting a lottery pick in the teens, unless they end up getting lucky.
We need to remember we replaced our most senior, productive starter in Grant with a couple of rookies. The play in is about as likely as getting Wembanyama next year.
Whilst true, we also retain our actual best player, who is a potential franchise player going from rookie year to sophmore. And we have a few guys around him. Not the kind of guys you are rock solid certain are starters on contender level teams, but the kind of young and improving players that help a team go from being incompetent to competent. I expect the Pistons to be a good team next year, and more talented than some of the older teams they won’t pass in the standings.
True, I’m expecting a lot from Bags this year.
Now you’re just asking for it
In seriousness, I don’t think the gap between Grant and Bojan is so big?
Expecting Ivey to be good this year in an absolute sense is probably not realistic, but the non-Cade guards were pretty awful last year, so I’m not sure it’s a downgrade.
Magic
Pacers
Wizards won 35 games but I don’t think they have a better roster than the Pistons.
Hornets are probably better but I can’t see Miles Bridges playing for them and that would be a huge loss.
Grant wasn’t healthy last year. 75 games from Bojan is better than what Grant gave them. If Cade actually practices in training camp and plays a couple exhibition games that’s better than what Cade did last year.
I have the Pistons 12th
If they are healthy and, say, the Hawks or Knicks struggle with health, or the Nets collective personalities explode again, or some other thing
I don’t think 10th is out of bounds. I wouldn’t bet on it, but I don’t think it’s nuts.
Asking for it? I know you hate Marvin Bagley III but give credit where it’s due, he’s the franchise cornerstone and the most talented player on the rodter, by far, and it’s not even close.
He’s not a franchise cornerstone and not the most talented player on the roster. Bagley is a good screen setter and lob threat but is bad at everything else. To me,he’s a moveable asset. The most talented player on the team goes to either Cade Cunningham or Jaden Ivey.
No, it’s Bagley. That’s why he’s paid the most.
I can’t believe anyone thinks it’s anyone other than Bagley.
He’s a tier one star in the East.
This is gaslighting
Bagley Bagley Bagley Bagley Bagley Bagley.
Buckets gonna be drunk tonight!
You goys the Postins are way borter rhad 12 lamdjfo.
So envious. Always wanted to speak Finnish.
Looks like another rough day gambling…
I’m excited about the preseason opener tonight. It’ll be the first time watching the whole team in action.
I’d agree with your list, at the bottom of your post.
Cross post to Wolverines in the NBA, but Isaiah had 13 points in 3/7 shooting (all threes).
Killian took 12 shots, which is like 4 games worth for him!
