I still strongly believe he’s an on-ball primary longterm
Will the Thompson’s be the best twins ever in any sport? Who are the current bests?
Tiki and Ronde
probably joe mauer and harmon killebrew?
for a more serious answer: henrik and daniel sedin got drafted 2nd and 3rd overall in the NHL by the same team, played their entire career there, had absolute psychic powers on the ice together, finished with essentially the same stats (including an MVP for one and scoring titles for both), and both made the hall of fame together. that is quite a high bar, but i don’t think there have been any other twins with as much potential to pass it as these two.
I probably have posts in this thread saying I wanted anyone but one of the Thompsons. Your optimism will never look as stupid as that take, so go for it.
I thought it looked like a lot and I’m a fan obviously but the more you look at some other salaries , I actually think it’s not bad.
He’s young for his draft class and shows drive to keep improving. He’ll be a cagey veteran by the end of the deal right when the young nucleus starts to come of age.
A scrappy vet who can hit threes ( if he keeps improving) could be worth it.
Been there myself
Troy Weaver breaking down the weather.
HOFers as comps caveat hereby applied
I’m waiting on the USG to get back to me on my patent for the Thompsons as Mini Giannis. In lieu of that I feel where you’re at w Big Dwyane.
Mark and Marty Bodnar.
I was thinking Derrick McKey but maybe that will be too conservative. I guess I’d rather have him exceed expectations than fall short.
I could be nuts but the comp that comes to mind the most is a non-broken Ben Simmons
I wonder how much these summer league takes are inflated (not just for the Thompsons but everyone) when we are in the sports void of the summer with nothing but baseball to fill our appetite. Semi structured games with mediocre talent in Vegas are enough to get us excited about these prospects, but this is essentially a minor league game so be careful.
Wildly. I am pretty sure Franz Wagner was universally declared a bust after NBASL.
I do t think talent is mediocre - these rosters are basically college Allstars but older
I think the lack of organization/prep is the bigger factor
I think a lot of what Ausar showed is repeatable. It wasn’t that he just caught fire and made a bunch of shots. That being said, Summer League is probably similar to Overtime Elite in that there’s a faster pace. Still need to see what he looks like in a slower, half-court game with better, more organized defenses.
There are a whole lot of people who had those takes for the previous 12 months. As a casual, I trusted ya’ll. And now I’m trying to justify his comparison to MJ. What a sport.
I always take Summer League with a big grain of salt. There are a lot of players who balled out and couldn’t either sniff PT or roster spot. Kevin Knox was named Summer League 1st team and he couldn’t sniff PT unless it’s with a bad team.
This is a type of environment that I expect the Thompson twins to excell. It’s very similar to OTE in structure. It’s not going to be the same in the NBA.
That’s always my biggest worry about Ausar as well as Amen.
I’m high on Ausar and think he will probably wind up being at least a solid two-way starter… but this hype is out of control lol. He could just be Stanley Johnson.
