Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 1)

Jett to Lakers here listed as a possibility

I’ve seen that in a few mocks over the last several weeks.

If we draft one of the twins, we will have to target the other one at some point. To have had both of the Morris twins and both Thomas twins must at least tie some NBA record.

Sure seems like Amen at 4 is a lock

Seems like the top 4 is pretty much locked in, yeah

Yeah, I’ve seen some disagreement in order 2-4 but it’s the same theee guys. The guys who seem to prize upside and ignore floor have Amen higher than Miller even. Duncan said there was probably 20% more likelihood Amen busted than Miller but also 20% more chance he was All NBA.

Thompson’s seem like great kids so I’d be shocked if they were just useless

At least his shot is less broken than Amen. That’s the only thing I’ve got with Ausar. My comp for him is Shawn Marion which isn’t a bad for a role player. Is he worth the #5 pick? I don’t think so

Shawn Marion is def worth the 5th pick

Wait

You think he’s like Shawn Marion and you WOULDN’T take him at five?

Is this because Marion had an odd looking shot as well?

It’s the same argument that you don’t take a role player at 5 and the fact that he isn’t a good shooter until late years where he shot decently from the corner 3 and was surrounded by teammates who can shoot.

I see Marion is a high end role player but with Ausar, it’s less of a sure thing because of his shooting which is his biggest swing skill. Game has evolved. I place shooting as a premium.

Marion spent five years averaging a 20/10 with 5 stocks on 59% true shooting on one of the best teams in the NBA, making 4 all star teams

You take that at 5 all day every day

Shawn Marion is a borderline HOFer. I just don’t think that’s a good example of what you’re trying to say

Ausar and Jarace are 6 and 7 on this consensus

Yeah like I feel you’re discussing Patrick Williams or something

I don’t think either Thompson has a good comp

Huh

I’ve heard Duncan, Hollinger, the ā€œBasketball Intellectā€ guy Duncan had on and Givony and they all had like a 5 slot spread, approximately

Vecenie has Jarace ahead of Ausar, Givony has Ausar 5 and then Jarace 7. Draft models are lower on Jarace but he’s got some big board scout hype. Certainly wouldn’t be a huge reach by Weaver.

Like I said, the game is different back then when shooting wasn’t emphasized 15 years ago. He was a borderline all-star player. Marion in today’s game would be different.

My big board is completely different once you get past the top 3 lol

I think I’m settling on Hendricks as the guy I’d go with for the Pistons assuming Amen, Scoot, and Miller are off the board. Think he’s the BPA unless opinions on Black’s jumper are better than Nate Duncan made it sound.

Ausar, I don’t have an opinion on really. Seems like that would be fine enough. Whitmore, I wish I had a clearer sense of why the models don’t like him. I really do love young guys that produce early. Jarace, I just doubt he’s a huge impact D guy and I don’t think he’ll shoot and that’s just not near enough upside.

I like Cason and Dick and if I thought I could trade down to get one of them and get another pick between 13 and 20, I’d do that in a heartbeat. Leonard Miller and Podziemski are draft model underrateds and I’m selling myself on Dariq Whitehead unless his injury history is worse than I think. He’s younger and produced when he was actually on the court despite the injury and his HS rank was +++. Mostly I just think even a lot of the wartier guys in this draft are interesting and I’d rather have 2 bites at the apple.
