Lol the jail is working Tom. They don’t transfer or go to the nba
No complaints about NIL I see tho as he lands a great class

He’s really taken on the mantle of the world’s biggest boomer. Can’t wait till he gets on his soapbox to rant about gender and ska music.
Pretty silent on that given that’s the reason they all stay.
It’s the player development. One draft pick in the last 5 drafts.
When you can’t develop players well enough for them to be pro prospects they have to stay!
I really wish someone credible in the media had the guts to call out his hypocrisy on the portal by asking him about Walker and Hauser and perhaps pointing out the benefits of having several underperforming players leave.
He should really stick to his principles and tell Walker that he made a mistake taking him and that he has to leave
“The portal is bad for the game, I’ll never use it, I’m loyal to the guys we recruit”, says Tom Izzo as he brings his star transfer back for his 5th season in college, pushing a talented player he recruited out of position for the third season in a row
“But there’s a lot of things I’m not a fan of that I have to do. I’ll try to do the best I can. It makes things hard.”
And thus Walker remains a part of the team despite the ethical conundrum presented.
It’s too bad he had to start taking transfers now. His past teams really could have used guys like Brandon Wood and Bryn Forbes and Eron Harris.
Akins needs to leave.
These kids need to start exposing his hypocrisy instead of helping further it.
Sounds like there’s a very real chance that may happen.
I hope he does. He should not be having to wait his turn to be the guy in this portal era.
Hopefully he doesn’t get bought and paid for with NIL money putting up with this another year.
He’s playing a lot. Why would he leave?
Huge fan of the current conspiracy that the Michigan coaching staff is trying to coax Akins into the portal by… having Ant Wright talk him up
He’s playing out of position.
I know you are pro-no one should ever transfer ever, but he plays a good amount now (not a lot) and has 0 path for an increase there or for an increase in offensive role, meanwhile his HS rival is heading to the NBA.
6’4” 180 guard that believes he’s an NBA talent.
Whether he’s right or wrong, playing off ball next to a ball dominant PG and a CG that gets all the late game opportunities isn’t the path to get there. NBA doesn’t want a 6’4” G whose entire résumé is 3 and D only. If Walker or Hoggard left he’s back at MSU with zero questions asked. With both back, supposedly he’s seriously considering leaving.
Thanks. I get it. Makes more sense
Yeah I know for a fact that he’s asking for advice to those outside of MSU on the situation, and that he wants to play on-ball. Sounds like a conflicted situation where he wants to stay but knows it’s best for his career to leave.
Another fun tidbit on this. Izzo is going to participate in a panel discussion this summer about NIL between him, Jay Bilas and Blake Corum.
