Big Ten Basketball 2022-23 Discussion

DeCourcy projects NW as a 5 seed in the tourney?

I don’t think this chart is a product of the Maryland blowout anymore…

I don’t know what’s going to happen over the last three games, but Michigan is a few close losses away from this being a very different season. (And the reason Michigan is where it is on this chart is because there are basically no close wins to flip in the other direction )

Michigan is the 4th best team in the conference. If you had to pick a non Purdue team to go to the Sweet 16 I’m not sure that Michigan wouldn’t be your first pick.

Fun but frustrating.

If we make it to the tournament I would HATE to be a ā€œhigher seedā€ that has to play us in the first round haha

Can someone explain to me why Michigan State is so eager to play Minnesota? Basically zero help from that game. Can only hurt if you play poorly and lose.

Hilarious that Rutgers is just like … ā€œNah.ā€

Probably just thinking that playing them while they are on short rest is basically a guaranteed win so may as well. Basically a buy game

It isn’t going to help their seed or anything. I am just surprised it is such a big thing. Maybe BTT double bye or something? But I am not sure which day of the week it is so I’m not sure if MSU prioritizes the Big Ten Tournament or not.

Could be some sort of mental ā€œmathā€ around wanting to be at 20 Wins to ā€œguaranteeā€ a tourney bid?

Home game ticket revenue?

Possibly because they are looking at being in a tie breaker scenario for BTT seeding?

Like if the entire league is 11-9 like it could be and they are 10-9 that would put them at a disadvantage

Seeding for B1G tourney.

Between the Ohio State robbery and the MSG game getting switched from a neutral to a home game at the last minute* I don’t think Rutgers is in a very cooperative mood with the Big Ten.

*it’s fair if you think it should count as a Rutgers home game and it was the NCAA’s call and not the conference’s but the Big Ten basically signed Rutgers up for it under the impression it would count as a neutral court game

That’s an extraordinary document. The glimpse of Chris Holtmann flashing through the handshake line. . .

I’m old enough to remember when Michigan played one of its ā€œhome gamesā€ at MSG

UM at MSG often has that feel!

No, it was one of Michigan’s 10 Big Ten home games… against Rutgers … at MSG.

I’m just saying that we always draw a lot of fans there. Loved when the fans started chanting ā€˜Let’s go Blue’ last night, too.

@buckets12 cooking up a new spicy tweet each week. A true art form.
