Nice, Iā€™m referring to the game today FWIW.

Gotta love a Del Curry type for our offense.

Teske looks bulkier, a very good sign.

That competition tho

I hate to be rude but he is 7 foot and his pt and rb #s are not that good.

Do we know what he is averaging on the season?

High school stats are generally not a great indicator either way, but itā€™s not like 23 out of 61 points is a bad night?

Reportedly, he gets double and even triple teamed. Bigs have to have someone pass them the ball. He was held to 8 points recently, but had 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks in the game. A lot of teams just deny him the ball and take their chances with the rest of the team. Heā€™s not a polished player, but you canā€™t teach size. Haas of Purdue is no gazelle, but his sheer size makes him effective.

7 feet in high school you should be able to grab 14 boards at a minimum playing kids significantly smaller.

Jr year Medina (Ohio) High School junior Jon Teske is averaging 12.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per game this season.

And Austin Davis is probably averaging about 20 rebounds per game. The point is that high school stats have so many external factors that makes them really hard to use as an evaluation tool.

That was last season. This is his senior season.

We donā€™t recruit rebounders at the big position.

Ibi Watson last night

Now that is big time competition. Those are the ā€œDawgsā€ we need to go after. Kids playing in absolute wars on the basketball floor. Excited for Ibi to get on campus.

Nick Ward is going to give us fits. Would love to have that type of player, with that size and physicality on our roster. Of course heā€™s going to Stateā€¦

Can you imagine the game previews when Ward plays alongside Davis? Wonā€™t be fun to read.

Next yearā€™s game in East Lansing probably wonā€™t be fun to watch either. The sad thing is, weā€™ll finally have that long-sought-after lineup of upperclassmen but will be huge dogs to a starting five of freshmen (and probably one soph).

If you want post players who can contribute in a meaningful way immediately, you recruit them out of leagues like in that video clip. Ward will step onto campus at State not scared of anyone. Iā€™m afraid Austin Davis and Teske will step on to campus fragile and timid.

Post players like Ward arenā€™t coming here. You know that as well as the rest of us. We can only sit and drool at having that kind of physicality and athleticism.
